We saw one of the last performances of "Tales of the City Thursday night.  OMG, I am in such a 70's mood (to quote a friend)!  Good period-evoking music, and well done costumes.  Unlike the NY Times review, the very clever set kinda grew on me after awhile.  The acting and singing were very good; it's hard to single out any one character.  Mary Anne gets some of the best songs, although IMHO, Michael (mouse) gets the very best, his reading of his coming out letter to his parents.  It is a bit long, but I have a hard time trying to figure out what to cut.

Here's a pic from the NY times of Mona and Michael.  Not sure if it'll make it to New York or elsewhere, but I do hope they get to do a cast recording!

BTW, here's my ideal version of Michael:

Nifty post ! -Thanks for the capsule review & including a picture. From your comments, I'd definitely want to go see this show ... and your remark about the set REALLY piques my interest !

I have the latest one just over there on the floor in hardback...I had to buy it! Armistead isn't exactly Kerouac but he's a good writer and good JK you just have to know what happens next...although I didn't really connect to the Michael Tolliver Lives as I'd expected though. Mary Anne in Autumn is back to his brilliance though.
