It's hard to get into the fact that summer is almost over!  It's ending kinda unceremoniously for me right now, although I think our recent trip to Vancouver/Seattle/Washington could make a good bracket.

More trips to SoCal for work, to Brea/Fullerton, so at least I'm getting Southwest miles!

Just came back from a long weekend at the place in Willits, we had David's siblings - two sisters and their husbands, plus one nephew up, and actually had a great time with them.  Baked a birthday cake last night (more sugar than I'll need for the next two months), and we all had big pieces.  Of course, I ate every crumb.  Not from scratch, but from mixes courtesy of Williams Sonoma.  Pretty tasty, but not the same as Citizen Cake or Bakesale Betty's.

The trip to the northwest was great.  David and I spent a few days on the Olympic peninsula, staying at Lake Quinault and in Port Angeles.  We hiked into the Hoh Rain Forest, saw big trees, went to Ruby Beach, missed the Lumberjack Museum (sigh) and went up Hurricane Ridge.   Even with limited time, the experience was breathtaking.

Met up with our friends from Boston in Seattle, and had dinner with an old acquaintance from the NW Bears, Dan Lee.  The four of us then drove up to Vancouver together, where we spent the majority of the vacation.

Walked a lot, ate a lot, and celebrated a lot at Vancouver's Pride Celebration.  God, I LOVE Vancouver!

Got to chat with an VERY woofy bear by the name of Connor, from Victoria at Bear Bounce, and also saw Chris, a cute cub acquaintance from IBR past.

All in all, a great vacation.  Things that'll keep me going for a while:

The incredible lushness of the Hoh Rain Forest
The great Dim Sum in Vancouver's Chinatown
Ducking the tossed fish(es) at Pike Street Market
The striking views from Hurricane Ridge
The bikers on the Ferry to Seattle and at Lake Quinault Lodge
Bears partying in a beautiful rooftop setting
