It's always great to learn that someone that you've lost contact with turns up almost in your back yard! After a chance email, I learned that that Tony Berno and his partner John, are now full time residents. Their home is now at moss camp, in a house that I knew was in planning for a long time, but did not know was completed. Tony invited us up to an open house he was having for his catering business, and of course we accepted the invitation! So on Sunday, David and I spent a (too) short time on Sunday at moss camp, Tony Berno's (almost) new home South of Ukiah, in Mendocino.

We arrived at an in-between time, which was kind of nice, since we got to spend time with Tony, John, Bill, and their Akita. The house is wonderful, well thought out and well-sited. The catering kitchen is a dream to behold, with lots of space and is well organized. We talked about his business the house, cooking, and wine.

I think the real showcase is the pizza oven, which makes me want to swoon (and not because of the heat)! Bill tested the oven with an infrared thermometer - it was over 1,000 degrees F!

The Oven of Choice

And the pizza it produced was wonderful. John chose the ingredients and baked it for us.
Sausage, tomato, mozzarella, & pickled onions.

It was an all too short visit, but we had work to look forward to on Monday, and we knew that Tony needed to keep on promoting his business. Next time, our place in Willits....

Here's a raised glass of champers to the clan at moss camp! May good luck and fortune follow you all.
