We saw the final installment of Harry Potter this weekend.  What a tremendous movie!  Very well paced and nicely acted.  But, I do have a something to muse over:

J. K. Rowling has said that Dumbledore is gay.  If that is the case, then what's with the "brother" character?  Is he REALLY Dumbledore's brother, or was he the lover spurned?  He does ask harry something to the effect of how can you trust someone if you don't really know him?"

Just thinkin'.....  What do y'all think?

He's definitely Dumbledore's brother, Aberforth... In the book -- when they're going into Rita Skeeter's "Tell All!" biography of Dumbledore, they talk about his family's secrets and stuff -- they get clarification of the lies & half-truths in other parts of the book as well...

His lover (who's never out-and-out named as such in the books -- J.K. kept that tidbit until after the last book had gone mega-platinum internationally ;o) ) is the "evil sorcerer" Gellert Grindelwald, who inspired the "Death & Oppression To Muggles & Mudbloods!" sentiments later carried forward by Voldemort... In the book it's implied that Dumbledore's "deep feelings of respect and admiration" for his "friend" Grindelwald sort of blinded him to the depth of evil in his heart... One of those things that -- looking back on it -- you go "Ohhhh... That explains why someone as good as Dumbledore would do/be something so damn STUPID..." ;o)
